WinIPDS - Product Overview

Seemless installation

The WinIPDS is the only full featured IPDS print server that takes full advantage of the Windows driver system through the GDI interface (Graphical Device Interface) for generating the output. The WinIPDS installs as a Windows service and requires no user dialogue during operation and can therefore be installed on any Windows XP/Vista workstation or Server. The configuration is done through a Web GUI which thereby allows remote configuration and management of the IPDS sessions without needing access to the Windows machine itself.

Bridges the gab between host printing and Windows printing 

This means that the iSeries or zSeries host sees the printer as a physical InfoPrint compatible IPDS printer, while the Windows driver system sees WinIPDS as an ordinary Windows printing application. The WinIPDS thereby bridges the gab between the host printing applications and the Windows print drivers, thus making full advantage of your existing Windows printers.

Supports any Windows driver for any purpose 

Windows driver for Laser printers, InkJets, Thermo transfer printers or even electronic formats such as PDF or XPS, will, with WinIPDS, immediately become capable of printing any IPDS print job. WinIPDS does not, as other transform solutions, convert to full page images, but exploits the graphical capabilities of the drivers. The WinIPDS therefore accommodate integration into work flow solutions as well as high-speed production printing environments. Only the PC it self limits the throughput, and WinIPDS will support up to 64 simultaneous IPDS print sessions.

Full AFP/IPDS support

The WinIPDS is based on the Intermate IPDS Ultra engine, and supports all advanced IPDS functions, such as FS45 full color and Hi-light color printing, DBCS, Object Containers and Scalable Type1 and TrueType fonts. WinIPDS also maps the native Windows driver paper options such as trays, duplex and media-types to the corresponding IPDS replies, thereby allowing full host control of the paper selection.
