IPDS Capture Tool for IPDS Ultra based products

Which products are supported by this tool?
This tool was developed for implementations of Creo's IPDS Ultra such as:

  • IAPS - Advanced Print Server -IPDS external hardware solution
  • WinIPDS (G52) - software-only solution for Windows (replaces IPDS Client 2005)
  • WinIPDS Pro - Software version of the IAPS

When should you use this tool?
If your job prints incorrectly or fails to print, you may need some help. As mentioned on the product portal page, in order to give you fast and efficient support, we need:
  1. A detailed description of the problem. Include and comment concrete illustrations whenever possible.
  2. Software/Firmware Versions (from the Status menu group).
    On IAPS: IPDS Code Version (G50-xx-xx) and System Code Version (V62/67-xx-xx).
    On the WinIPDS code level (G52-xx-xx) and the Windows OS type.
  3. Type of host (hardware; operating system; PSF version or alternative product from LRS) and the settings you use for the host "writer".
  4. Printer type and model. Status sheet from the printer.
  5. IAPS only: A copy of the configuration profile (.cfg file) from the IAPS (select 'Configuration > Import or Export' in the menu and select an appropriate place to save the file).
  6. A trace of the job, which (along with the copy of the configuration file) allows us to analyze the data stream.

The capture program P22 can be run on any PC that can be reached from the IAPS or WinIPDS by its IP address. With WinIPDS, you would usually run the capture program on the same PC, but you can run it on any PC that can reach the PC running WinIPDS.

The tool receives the data from the trace functionality in the IAPS or WinIPDS and captures these data to a file. The trace functionality is configured on the Emulator Setup page for the Service you want to trace.
