PRODUCT: Intermate Advanced Print Server (IAPS) - TNe Product Release: V 2.3 RELEASE DATE: 2006-12-14 SOFTWARE CODE: G53_23_019-setup and G53_23_019-update MODELS: 200-x (x = number of active sessions supported by the license: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, or 64) for TNe/HPT or TNe/SCS (to PCL) including TNe/HPT printing from IBM mid-range hosts (AS/400, iSeries, i5) SUPPORT SITE: www.intermate.com/iaps ******************************************************************** 1. This release (V2.3 G53_23_019 2006-12-14) ******************************************************************** * Configuration export and import is now supported. On the Import or Export Page you can Export a "configuration profile" that always includes TNe Sessions and Target Printers; optionally, you can include IP (Network) Settings (from the Print Server page), and/or Device Identification (from the Print Server page) and/or GateManager settings. On the Import or Export Page you can Import a configuration profile. You can also import an IDB Collection. IDB files are imported individually and exported individually on the IDB Collection Page. If you export more than one IDB file, you can import it as a collection on the Import or Export Page. Configuration profiles are in xml format. They can be edited and but you must use the correct syntax. Individual IDB files are binary and can only be edited with an IDB editor. ******************************************************************** 2. Known limitations ******************************************************************** * Application Launcher does under devicename not accept [space] and other special characters. The reason is that the IAPS devicename is used as DNS name and subsequently must follow DNS naming conventions GateManager (limitations by design): ------------------------------------- * "Go To Appliance" only works with "Manual login" (Session > Preferences > "Go to Appliance". * There are no facilities for configuration backup or applying configuration profiles (so the "Attach Configuration Profile" is, in effect, not active). "Configuration Changed" in the Appliance Details: General Section is not activated. * When attached to the IAPS via "Go To Appliance", you cannot use the IDB Editor for advanced editing of IDB files. Printer Targets: ---------------- * If disabling SNMP for target printer communication the IAPS will not be able to verify of the printer is on-line. Check the error log in the IAPS if printing does not happen as expected. ******************************************************************** 3. Release History ******************************************************************** ******************************************************************** V2.2 G53_22rc_018 2006-09-11 ******************************************************************** * If the IAPS had once received an IP address from a DHCP server and later was moved to a new location without a DHCP server, the old IP address will appear in the IP address field in the GUI eventhough it functionally uses the default static address. Now the field will reflect the default static address 10.0.0.1 * If the IAPS host address and Default Gateway had been manually configured, and the IAPS was moved to an IP subnet different from the PC from which the Appliance Launcher (or IMCU) is run, the IAPS would not be detected. This has been fixed. ******************************************************************** V2.2 G53_22rc_017 2006-08-24) ******************************************************************** * Secondary DNS support. New kernel firmware v62_2_07 required !! * Removed some SNMP NID that could detect that targets where printers. ifPhysAddress (first) 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.6 SNMP MIB-2 Interfaces ifPhysAddress (second)1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.6.1 SNMP MIB-2 Interfaces hrDeviceSerialNo 1.3.6.1.2.1.43.5.1.1.17 Printer-MIB * Aplication Launcher. New way of setup device first time! This program can set devicename, ip settings and GM settings. * It is now possible to specify a Primary and a Secondary GM Proxy address at the Configuration->GateManager page. If PMG cannot connect to the Primary address, the Secondary address will be used after approximately 1 minute. ******************************************************************** V2.1 G53-22-014-1 2006-08-22 ******************************************************************** * Full Fontset download did not work in multi session mode. * The IDB Emulator was re-initialized between two jobs. Because an AS/400 is clever enough to only send job formatting only once for two successive jobs that uses the same printer file, this error could make output look wrong. ******************************************************************** V2.1 G53_21_014 2006-02-23 ******************************************************************** * Full Fontset never been working. * IDB Editor now shows a more correct string on option 244. ******************************************************************** V2.1 G53_21_013 2006-02-16 ******************************************************************** The product name has been adjusted to reflect the fact that it only supports 5250 (mid-range). * This firmware is the first in which GateManager support is fully implemented. Among other things: * You can now reboot the IAPS from the GateManager Console. * Appliance Details: Specific Section now includes all IP information. * Performance for SCS sessions has been increased to about the same level as for HPT sessions. ******************************************************************** V1.1 G53_20_012 2006-01-31 ******************************************************************** * Firmware Upgrade from GateManager is now correctly supported. * Target Printers that do not support SNMP are now reliably supported. For best performance, de-select the mew SNMP option on the Target Printer configuration if you know or suspect that the printer does not support SNMP(missing on-line help on this). Technical note: IAPS ThinPrint and IAPS TNe now share the same software code G53. Correction to Getting Started (and on-line help): "Target Printer configuration on the IAPS". If you choose LPR as output type, type in a queue name - maximum 128 (not 8) characters. ******************************************************************** G53-10-011 2006-01-21 (first revised release) ******************************************************************** * IDB editor: Strings of more than 127 characters can now be used in the Java IDB editor (advanced editing). The intended limit of 256 characters is now implemented. * Previous build did not print SCS. * The "Used By Session #" column in the IDB Collection did not work in the previous build. Now fixed. * Paper Source 1 + 2 and Envelope Source in the TNe Setup page for HPT did not work. Now fixed. ==================================================================== First public release G53-01-010 2006-01-17 ==================================================================== New product: ------------ First public release. Tentative release notes did not include the addition of Euro support in the default IDB (mentioned below). Major changes since Beta: G53-01b-001 2005-11-28 (for customer demo) ------------------------------------------------------------------- * LPR output added * Performance optimized and communication with host fine-tuned to improve status information. * Target Printer Timeout no longer user-configurable. * The GUI makes it clearer that any sessions uses either HPT or SCS. Session configuration is tailored to that choice. * The IDB editor (for advanced IDB file editing) has been completed with all available descriptive texts and "Save as". * Updated default IDB file (IAPS_DEFAULT.IDB) - replaces TN5250e.idb This IDB (configuration for SCS printing) converts to PCL. * IAPS_DEFAULT.IDB has been changed in order to make Euro support default (Code page 1148 instead of 500). (A separate firmware has been made for Kyocera Mita printers; this version includes an additional IDB in which Prescribe is used instead of PCL in selection strings for trays etc; in addition, the code page and country code are French. * The GateManager plugin has been improved * The on-line help document has been added and GUI text completed. * License management has been streamlined. * Limits in how Mozilla Firefox worked have been removed.
