********************************************************************** PRODUCT: Creo WinIPDS Pro/Lite SOFTWARE RELEASE: Release 2.0 Revision G59-20-002 TEMPLATE VERSION: v167 RELEASE DATE: 2009-12-03 SUPPORT PORTALS: http://www.intermate.com/winIPDSPro_support http://www.intermate.com/winIPDSLite_support About the Creo WinIPDS Pro/Lite ********************************************************************** The G59 firmware covers two commercial products, which will become active when the corresponding software activation key is installed: Common for the two product is that is a software-based print server, powered by the "IPDS Ultra" engine. Creo WinIPDS Pro: The WinIPDS Pro redirects print from the IBM Host to a Postscript or PCL capable printer. Optionally the printer will be monitored by SNMP for full page counting and exception reporting. The WinIPDS Pro is fully compliant with the IAPS IPDS product in terms of IPDS processing, Postscript and PCL output and SNMP monitoring. Also the WinIPDS pro supports the driver templates for the IAPS IPDS. Creo WinIPDS Lite: The WinIPDS Lite redirects print from the IBM Host to the target printer via IPDS Services using Windows' drivers and Print Manager spool system (using the MS GDI "Graphical Device Interface") This product replaces the WinIPDS (G52). You can install the G59 software and use your activation key for the WinIPDS product, and will activate the G59 software as WinIPDS Lite. This release G59-20-002 (2009-12-03), (Template version v167) ********************************************************************** New Features: -------------------------- - This version now represents both the WinIPDS Pro and WinIPDS Lite The Web GUI will reflect WinIPDS Pro when a software license key enabling PS/PCL support enabled is installed. The Web GUI will reflect WinIPDS Lite when a software license key enabling GDI support enabled is installed. If both PS/PCL and GDI is enabled in the key, the Web GUI will reflect WinIPDS Pro. - The Trial system now allows enabling of an additional trial period if the trial key has a trial extension bit set. The product will ONLY allow two consecutive trial periods. - The left menu bar now shows which features are active (PCL/PS, GDI) - Order forms are now available for ordering both Production and Trial keys for both the Pro and the Lite product. - WinIPDS Lite only: A production key for the WinIPDS (G52) product can now be used to enable the product as WinIPDS Lite. Color keys will default to 40ppm, and B/W keys will default to 50ppm. - There is now a Quick Installation guide for both installation for using Windows drivers (WinIPDS Lite) and for using bative PS/PCL drivers (WinIPDS Pro) Fixes: -------------------------- - WinIPDS Lite only: A common notification log message would appear in the log as "ierror dump". The notification message will now be presented with a more descriptive message. - WinIPDS Pro only: Import of very large templates could result in corruption of the target printer database. This is fixed- Known Limitations: -------------------------- - The Service Types include a selection of PDF. PDF is not supported in this version of the product, and will eventually require a special license key to activate. The visualization of PDF represents a preparation for future feature. - RESTRICTIONS in PCL Backends only (due to shortcomings in the PCL Language): - PCL Backends do not support FIT functionality (Shrinking of logical page to fit the physical page). - PCL Backends do not support Edge to Edge printing. This is because PCL does not as standard allow expanding the logical printable area. Some printers may have native methods for overcoming this limitation, but the WinIPDS Pro is not currently able to exploit these solutions. - PCL Backends do not support nested finishing for functions involving groups and where functions should start or end independently of each other (e.g. 10 sheets staple with sheet 7 and 8 Z-folded). Note: All of the "missing" features in PCL backend are implemented in the PostScript backend. - RESTRICTIONS in PostScript Backends only (due to PostScript's "per-page" handling): - In rare cases Offset Stacking (JOG) will first take effect on the next page printed. Documentation: ----------------------------- - The on-line help serves as an Options Reference Manual,so it is at hand at all times. - product support portals at http://www.intermate.com/WinIPDSPro_support http://www.intermate.com/WinIPDSLite_support The support portals includes a number of guides in these areas: - Guides to help you get the product up and running, including host setup - Guides to help you configure Services, Templates and Drivers - Troubleshooting Information - Guides explaining relevant IPDS terms - Detailed specifications Upgrade instructions: -------------------------- - Make sure you do not have any active jobs running as these will be terminated when upgrading. - Run the exe file. If another version of the product is already installed you will be prompted to either remove that installation, or to Repair/Upgrade. Select the latter to upgrade you current installation. Your settings and license key will be preserved. - Should you wish to remove an installation completely, you should use the standard Windows Remove Program feature. This procedure will not remove the configuration settings and license key. - Note that the G59 product can run simultaneoulsy with the G52 product. Just ensure that the IPDS input port numbers do no conflict (port 5001.) About templates (WinIPDS Pro only: ---------------------------------- - This product shares templates with the Creo IAPS IPDS - Templates that are exported from the product, can only be imported in a G59 software version with the same "Template Version" (see the header of this release note for the template version). - The template version of the installed G59 version is shown on the overall status page. - Note that different G59 software releases can share the same template version. The template version only changes when the data base model of the product changes, and new software releases may include fixes and new features that does not affect the data base model. - If you need to import older templates, you must downgrade the G59 software to match that of the templates to import. Once imported you can upgrade the G59 software version again, and the templates will automatically be converted to the Template Version of the G59 firmware. Subsequent export of the templates will enable the templates to be imported in another IAPS or WinIPDS Pro with this Template version.
